Plasma purifier, also known as low-temperature plasma exhaust gas purifier, is divided into three independent and hybrid excitation systems under the overall design concept of electrocatalysis: microwave excitation zone, plasma excitation zone, and electrode excitation zone. Each excitation zone has its specific function, but in principle it shares similarities.
The application of low-temperature plasma technology in exhaust gas treatment With the development of industrial economy, volatile organic waste gases generated by industries such as petroleum, pharmaceuticals, paints, printing, and coatings are also increasing. These waste gases not only stay in the atmosphere for a long time, but also spread and drift to distant places, causing serious pollution to the environment. When these waste gases are inhaled into the human body, they directly pose great harm to human health; In addition, the uncontrolled emission of industrial flue gas has led to the deterioration of the global atmospheric environment, and the harm of acid rain (mainly from industrial emissions of sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides) has attracted the attention of various countries. Due to the pollution and acidification of the atmosphere, the ecological environment has been damaged, major disasters have occurred frequently, and enormous losses have been caused to humanity. Therefore, it is imperative to choose an economical and feasible processing method.
The traditional treatment methods for degrading volatile organic pollutants (VOCs), such as absorption, adsorption, condensation, and combustion, are difficult to achieve for low concentrations of VOCs. However, photocatalytic degradation of VOCs also has the problem of catalyst deactivation. The use of low-temperature plasma treatment for VOCs is not limited by the above conditions and has potential advantages. However, plasma is an interdisciplinary field that includes fundamental disciplines such as discharge physics, discharge chemistry, chemical reaction engineering, and vacuum technology. Therefore, there are very few units that can maturely master this technology. Most of the promotions about using low-temperature plasma technology to treat exhaust gas are not true low-temperature plasma exhaust gas treatment technology.
The principle of low-temperature plasma technology for treating pollutants is: under the action of an external electric field, a large number of energy carrying electrons generated by dielectric discharge bombard pollutant molecules, causing ionization, dissociation, and excitation, and then triggering a series of complex physical and chemical reactions, transforming complex large molecule pollutants into simple small molecule safe substances, or transforming toxic and harmful substances into non-toxic and harmless or low toxicity and low harm substances, thereby degrading and removing pollutants. Due to the average energy of electrons generated after ionization being 10 eV, controlling the reaction conditions appropriately can make chemical reactions that are generally difficult to achieve or slow in speed very fast. As a high-tech with strong potential advantages in the field of environmental pollution treatment, plasma has received high attention from relevant disciplines both domestically and internationally.
